De eerste keer dat ik het zag moest ik bijna gaan huilen echt een heel goede ova alleen was er soms wel een probleem met de ondertiteling.

This is the best animated movie I've ever seen.
The first time I saw this movie and finished it ... I saw it all over again for a secound time ...

The story sets in the old Japan where revolution is upcoming. A small boy is saves and introduced to learn a fighting style.
After he fights to uptain the revolution and becomes 'the Battosai'.

A story you can see time after time. Every time I like it more.
Also it is the beginning of a new periode in history that continuous in the serie of Rurouni Kenshin. Also a story that you must have in your collection.

The graphics and fightingscenes are super. The story is magnificent and the music is superb and gets you all the time.

P.s. : the story, graphics and music of the serie are impressive also. It's funny, it makes you believe it, there is romance and historical facts and places ... and it can make you cry.
Only shame that in the serie the story of Enishi is not told, but in the manga's you can find the story of Enishi.

Après tant d'années, les OAV de Kenshin restent mes préferées.
Elles reprennent le passé de Kenshin comme raconté dans les volumes 19 à 21 du manga.
Outre la très bonne réalisation, on retient aussi l'excellente bande son.

This ova realy is my favourite one and is so good in combining drama, action and romance in a great art style that emphasizes the dark feeling of the era in witch this ova is situated. The storie goes about a famous Hitokiri (Assasin) in the civil war .

The story line is great and the actions scenes are sublime and the art draws you to the screen so a recomandation to evreyone. If you're looking for A Samurai kind like movie then this is the one to buy realy.

I would recomend u that story if you like samurais.
It is a "rather dramatic" story, how to see how a young boy becoming the most mercyless killer of all times.
If u realy enjoyed the story, you should realy buy the serie.

This movie remains on the top of my favourite anime, ever. It tells the story of a young Kenshin during the Meiji Revolution, how he became the Hitokiri Battousai ánd the events that would later on have him turn away from his path as a manslayer and become a wanderer. From the beginning to the end, this movie gets you involved; it has an amazing balance between beauty and sadness; between violence and romance. The end had me completely in tears. The animation is fluid and detailed, although quite different and more 'mature' compared to the animation of the series.

Finally, I'd like to enlighten something about the Kenshin OAV's, because it confused me a lot and I hope I can help others with this.

The first OAV called "Reminiscence" is a prologue to the TV series. ADV Films has published this OAV in two parts called 'Samurai X: Trust' and 'Samurai X: Betrayal'. The product page on which you are reading this review is the *FULL* version of Reminiscence, released by Dybex. Why they failed to give it a proper distinctive title, I'm not sure.. it's confusing for us fans!

The second OAV called "Seisouhen" is an epilogue to the TV series. ADV Films has published this OAV under the name of 'Samurai X: Reflection'. I don't know of a European release of this OAV.

Trust & Betrayal together have a Director's Cut version, and so does Reflection.

Thén there's the Rurouni Kenshin Movie, which is basically a long episode that falls randomly in the TV series. ADV calls this one 'Samurai X: The Motion Picture'. I haven't seen a European release for this one, either.

Rurouni Kenshin is released in the US by ADV Films under the (lame) title of Samurai X. ^_^

Anyway: I recommend seeing this movie, whether you intend to watch the Kenshin TV series or not - it is wonderful on its own. Keep a tissue handy. ^^

Het verhaal op zich is zeer mooi, net als de beeldkwaliteit en het gelijk. Ergenispuntjes: soms ietwat kromme Nederlandse ondertiteling en er zit een spelfout in het DVD-menu. Dit heeft Dybex helaas wel vaker...

Hier wordt het verleden vertelt van Kenshin.
Zijn tijd als huurmoordenaar en waarom hij gestopt is met moorden.
De personages zijn veel meer uitgewerkt dan de TV serie, ook vind ik de tekenstijl 100x mooier.
Het is echt een must have voor anime fans en zeker voor de RK fans onder ons!

Deze ova is geweldig, ik heb er erg van genoten toen ik hem zag, het geluid is geweldig de animatie is geweldig en de tekenstijl is echt zoveel mooier dan de tekenstijl van de tv serie.Zelfs ALS je Rurouni Kenshin haat kan je deze ova niet haten hij is echt in 1 woord "Geweldig" loop deze niet mis anime fans! deze ova vertelt over Kenshin's verleden hoe en waarom hij is gaan moorden, waarom hij dat litteken heeft en waarom hij ook weer gestopt is met moorden....Deze moet je echt gewoon aanschaffen voor je anime dvd's collectie!
